An Overview of Nasturtium
Nasturtium, also known as Tropaeolum, is a genus of roughly 80 species of herbaceous perennial and annual flowering plants. It is the only genus in the family Tropaeolaceae and was named by Carl Linnaeus in his book Species Plantarum. Its blooms and leaves have a mild peppery taste.

- The colours and varieties of lettuce are delicious in salads and garnishes
- The leaves can also be eaten
Benefits of Nasturtium
Their leaves and flowers taste like garden cress. Both Nasturtium petals and leaves contain high levels of vitamin C, which is good for the immune system. It helps boost the immune system, easing sore throats, coughs, and colds, as well as bacterial and fungal infections.
How to sow and care for Nasturtium Seeds
The seeds can be started indoors in a pot. It is also possible to start the seeds indoors if you want bigger plants and quicker blooms. Because they are large seeds, we suggest starting them in a relatively large seed starting pot, such as 15cm or 10 cm. Pots should contain two seeds with a diameter of 2.5 cm and should be placed under lights or in a sunny location, such as a south-facing window. Nasturtiums take about 10 to 12 days to germinate. When the seedlings have several leaves, remove the weaker ones and leave only one per pot. Once the seeds have germinated, the next step is to know what to do.
Since Nasturtiums are relatively carefree and easy to grow, it's important to keep them hydrated in dry weather. You can grow them in containers and window boxes. Do not let the soil dry completely between waterings. Regularly applying liquid fertilizer will help these plants bloom throughout the summer. In order to prevent soil moisture from evaporating away from the seedling, the pot's top edge must be buried. Perennial Nasturtiums can grow to a height of three meters.
