Anethum graveolens, also known as Dill Diana, is the perfect plant to have on hand this time of year to soothe indigestion. How to Sow and Care for Dill Diana Seeds

During early spring, plant seeds 18 cm apart with seeds covered 1 cm deep in well-drained garden soil. Cover the seeds with 1cm of soil and space them 2.5 to 5 cm apart. To have successive harvests of fresh leaves, make small sowings every few weeks. The seeds of Dill Diana should be sown thinly in individual pots of seed starting mix.

Keep moist until the seedlings emerge in seven to fourteen days. Cover with 1cm of soil and keep moist. Make sure the light source is adequate. Space groups of two or three seedlings about 12 cm apart when they are large enough to handle. Keep seedlings well watered and thinned to ensure lush growth and prevent seed heads from developing too early.

It grows well in full sun, whereas will not grow as bushy in case it is grown in light shade. Dill Diana grows best in soils that are well-draining and contain lots of organic matter. Prepare the planting bed in advance by adding aged compost. Dill seeds should be started indoors for four to six weeks before being transplanted outdoors. Dill Diana prefers soil pH ranges between 5.5 and 6.7.

Taproot seeds from poorly transplanted taproots are best for growing in place and starting dill Diana.
