Benefits of Parsley
For bladder infections, kidney stones, gastrointestinal disorders, constipation, diabetes, cough, asthma, and high blood pressure, parsley can be taken by mouth. Vitamin C and other antioxidants in parsley lower the risk of serious health conditions such as diabetes, strokes and much more.
Additionally, parsley is rich in folate and vitamin A.
How to Sow and Care for Parsley
When transplanting parsley and other plants with delicate taproots, extra care should be taken. You can start seedlings indoors eight or ten weeks before the last spring frost date. Plant the seeds in the spring three to four weeks.
Parsley seeds have a low germination rate, so you may want to soak the seeds overnight to increase the chances of success. Ideally, parsley seeds should germinate at 21°C, though they can germinate even at lower temperatures.
Parsley grows best in well-draining soil with a high organic matter concentration. Plant it in a spot that receives 6 to 8 hours of direct sunlight each day. When you choose a weed-free area, the parsley will sprout in approximately three weeks. The gaps between the parsley seeds can be filled with radish seeds.
During the summer, keep parsley plants adequately moist, especially when temperatures are high. Mulch the plants with a light layer of soil to conserve moisture.
