It usually takes a week to ten days for seedlings to appear. Afterward, suppose the transplants have been properly hardened off. In that case, they can be planted two to three weeks before they are started indoors to have a continuous supply of lettuce and to plant other seeds every two weeks after the initial planting.

Consider organic alfalfa meal or slow-release fertilizer. Maintain moist but not too wet soil. Ensure good drainage. Lettuce will know when it needs to be watered.
