An Overview of Pink Cosmos Dwarf Flower

In the daisy family Asteraceae, Cosmos bipinnatus is a medium-sized flowering herbaceous plant native to North America, commonly called a garden cosmos or Mexican aster. Various varieties and cultivars of the species are sold as ornamental plants in temperate climate gardens.

What is more to love:

  • Cosmos are half-hardy annuals with daisy-like flowers
  • They grow easily from seed and bloom for an incredibly long period
  • Frow from the middle of summer until the first frost
  • They're excellent for filling gaps in summer borders
  • They add color to meadow-style planting schemes, look great

Benefits of Pink Cosmos Dwarf Flower

Cosmos flowers attract lacewings, parasitic wasps, tachinid flies, and hoverflies, which pollinate and eat pest insects. Cosmos bipinnatus, the most familiar member of the Cosmos family, is not considered edible. It is safe for children and pets to grow around since it is not harmful to them.

How to Sow and Care for Pink Cosmos Dwarf Flower

You can plant seeds in seedling trays or small pots with compost, good quality seeds. With the back of your hand or with a block of wood, lightly firm down the compost. It is best to sow seeds directly on the compost surface, one per cell if possible. A small pinch of seeds needs to be placed in each cell, followed by a centimeter-thick layer of compost or vermiculite, moistened with water, and then drained. It can be placed in a heated propagator or covered with a plastic bag. Transplant your seedlings into separate pots as soon as they have two leaves.

Cosmos doesn't require any soil preparation. As a result, they prefer soil that is not too rich since rich soil produces more foliage than blooms. Additionally, they require well-draining soil. Pink Cosmos flowers are able to withstand hot, dry weather. They can even withstand drought.

The plants can be self-seeded around your garden. Staking these plants may sometimes be necessary due to their height. You can also grow your baby plants against a fence for support. Overwatering or overfertilizing your Cosmos will result in fewer flowers. Make sure they are moist, but not drowned.
