Overview of Sweetcorn
Sweetcorn, a delectable variety of maize, delights with its high sugar content. Its luscious, sweet flavor is a result of a naturally occurring recessive mutation in genes, which converts sugar to starch within the kernel's endosperm. Unlike cow corn, Sweetcorn boasts higher sugar levels and is picked in its youthful stage to retain the natural sweetness. Indulge in this nature's gift, as Sweetcorn brings a burst of sweetness to your table with every bite.

How to sow and care for Sweetcorn
Sweetcorn prefers a warm climate and cannot tolerate frost. Seeds should be planted in pots in a greenhouse, hoop house, or cold frame after the ground has warmed up. Then you can start sowing three to four weeks before your last frost date and get a head start on outdoor-sown Corn. Plant eight to ten seeds 1cm deep into a 10cm wide pot. You can use either a seed-starting potting mix or a general-purpose potting mix. Sow seeds into smaller pots or plug trays, with two seeds per pot or module, and remove the weaker seedling.
When you have removed your young plants from their pots, carefully tease their roots apart. Be sure to retain as much soil around their roots as possible. You can now plant your sweet corn 45 cm apart. Put the seeds in each hole, fill the hole with soil, and firm it back down. Sweet corn hates cold temperatures. Make sure the pots stay moist during the growing period.
While you can still reach between the plants, remove any weeds that grow within your Sweetcorn. Sweetcorn is a sturdy plant and shouldn't require support. Watering will be necessary for arid weather after the silks appear and the cobs begin to form in late summer.
