An Overview of Luo Han Guo
The herbaceous perennial vine Siraitia grosvenorii, also known as monk fruit and Luo Han Guo, belongs to the gourd family, Cucurbitaceae. It is native to northern Thailand and southern China. It is grown for its fruit extract, called mogrosides, which produces a sweetness sensation more than 250 times stronger than sucrose. Monk fruit and stevia are both natural alternatives to cane sugar or artificial sweeteners. However, neither is better or worse than the other.

How to sow and care for Luo Han Guo - Monk fruit Seeds
The seeds of Monk Fruit need to be soaked for 3-4 days before sowing. Plant fast-draining mixes under grow lights or in an excellent solar greenhouse. The seeds should be sown about five centimetres deep, and the planting area should be kept warm and dry. Since the seeds have already swelled up after soaking, too much water discourages germination. Normally, germination takes between 3 and 6 weeks. Plants should be transplanted to areas of the garden with rich hills, along with trellising.
Luo Han Guo, alias Monk Fruit or Momordica grosvenori, prefers cool temperatures between 20 and 22 degrees Celsius. It grows best when temperatures are significantly different at night and during the day. A high level of humidity is ideal. The plant does well with at least 7-8 hours of illumination in partial shade. Diffused light is also beneficial. While it is not particularly important what the soil is like, hummus-rich soils are preferred. There is no direct sunlight on this exotic liana, which however grows in a warm climate without a nebula.
