Many gardeners in northern parts of the country start seeds indoors a few weeks before planting, then transplant them outside once the weather warms and settles.

Luffa vines usually grow to a height of around 30 feet and need a strong trellis to support them. You should therefore plan to give them sturdy support, such as a fence or trellis if you intend to plant them. After you have hardened off your seedlings, plant them in an area that receives full sun. During the summer months, keep the Luffa moist. Feed your luffa plants a diluted liquid fertilizer or compost tea every four to six weeks.
