How to sow and care for Kiwano fruit

Growing Kiwano Fruit from seeds is easy with good caring. Sow the fruit seeds directly in the garden once all frost danger has passed and the temperature consistently rises above 12 degrees Celsius. Temperatures between 20 and 35 Celsius are optimal for germination. The seeds should be planted 2 to 5 cm deep, and 2-3 seeds high.

Leave at least one meter between each group. Once the seedlings have two true leaves, you can plant the seedlings outdoors along with starting the seeds indoors. After planting, the soil should be slightly moist but not soggy. Germination usually occurs within a few weeks.

Providing trellises will enable the vine to climb. The soil should be allowed to dry between waterings, and deep waterings should be given weekly. Native to hot, dry climates, Kiwano horned fruit is a tropical fruit. Melon can be grown in USDA plant hardiness zones of 10 and higher.
